Role Overview
We are seeking a highly accomplished modeling actuary to join our growing team of life and annuity specialists. This is a career-defining opportunity to work at the forefront of actuarial modeling, shaping solutions that drive real business impact for top-tier insurers and reinsurers. As the Lead Modeling Actuary, you will lead critical model development and validation work across pricing, valuation, conversion and risk management applications. You will partner with both client teams and Graeme Group’s in-house experts to ensure models are efficient, accurate, transparent, and fully aligned with business objectives. The role will establish best practices for model development, conversion, and validation across North America, applying leading actuarial thought leadership to practical, market-driven use cases.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead AXIS model design, build, and enhancement for life and annuity product lines.
- Conduct best practice model validation to ensure integrity, accuracy, and compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
- Develop independent calculators providing insight into the actuarial rationale implied by AXIS cash flows and valuation reserves.
- Perform pricing and projection analyses, integrating complex assumptions and scenario analysis.
- Oversee valuation processes, including reserves, embedded value, and financial reporting deliverables.
- Optimize model run times, data flows, and governance frameworks to maximize operational efficiency.
- Document models to the highest professional standard, ensuring transparency and reproducibility.
- Mentor and collaborate with other actuaries to expand AXIS expertise across the team.
- Engage directly with client stakeholders to present findings, defend methodologies, and influence strategic decisions.
Qualifications & Experience
- Deep, hands-on expertise in AXIS across pricing, valuation, and model validation for life and annuity products.
- 5+ years of actuarial experience, preferably with a blend of consulting and insurer/reinsurer roles.
- ASA or FSA designation strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of actuarial modeling best practices, assumption setting, and model governance.
- Proven ability to translate technical results into actionable business recommendations.
- Exceptional documentation and communication skills.
- Comfort working in a fully remote, high-performance environment.
